APS Welding manufactures Column and Boom Welding Systems designed for large-scale, automated welding in heavy fabrication industries. Available in 10+ models from compact 1×1m configurations to heavy-duty 7×7m EHD systems with up to 200kg load capacity, our Column & Boom machines deliver vibration-free movement, precise torch positioning, and consistent weld quality across MIG, TIG, and SAW processes.
Built with helical rack gear drives, variable frequency AC motors, and remote digital pendant control — these systems reduce operator fatigue, improve weld repeatability, and lower production costs for shipbuilding, pressure vessel, wind tower, and structural steel fabrication.

APS Column and Boom systems are available in three series:
MINI CNB (1×1m to 2×2m) — Compact systems for workshops and light fabrication. 30kg boom load capacity. Manual rotation.
CNB Standard (2×2m to 5×5m) — Mid-range systems for pressure vessels, structural steel, and pipe fabrication. 80kg capacity. Manual or motorized rotation.
EHD (Extra Heavy Duty) CNB (3×3m to 7×7m) — Engineered for maximum output. 200kg boom load. Motorized rotation. Safety systems included. Ideal for shipbuilding, wind towers, and heavy structural work.
All models feature: 0.15–1.5 m/min adjustable speed (elevation + traverse) | 3Ph AC motor with VFD | Helical rack gear | Digital pendant control

How to Choose the Right Column & Boom Welding System
Step 1 — Determine your workpiece dimensions
Maximum height and reach of your largest weldment determines the minimum column and boom size required. Add 500–800mm clearance above the workpiece for torch access.
Step 2 — Check your payload requirements
Calculate the combined weight of your welding head, wire feeder, flux hopper (for SAW), and cable bundles. Choose a model with at least 20% more load capacity than your calculated payload.
Step 3 — Decide on rotation type
For single-axis, straight seam welding — fixed or manual rotation is sufficient (MINI CNB series).
For circumferential welding on tanks, vessels, or pipes — select motorized rotation (CNB4 and above) and pair with a welding rotator or positioner.
Step 4 — Match to your welding process
SAW welding: requires EHD CNB series (heavier flux hopper + wire coil payload)
MIG/TIG welding: MINI CNB or CNB standard series typically sufficient
Step 5 — Consider customization
APS Welding offers customized column height, boom length, and special mounting arrangements. Contact our team for non-standard requirements.
